The South West Medicines Information Service and the Pharmacy Workforce Development South are based in the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
The Medicines Information team works with and supports professionals and organisations within the south west providing information and advice on all aspects of the therapeutic use of medicines to achieve better outcomes for patients.
At a national level the team works within the UKMi network and is part of the national Specialist Pharmacy Service contributing to a range of workstreams including:
The training team offers a range of courses and training for the pharmacy workforce in the South. Training schemes for pharmacists, preregistration trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, preregistration trainee pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants are all co-ordinated by this department.
PWDS team members also work with a range of partners including Health Education England, Bridgwater & Taunton College, NICE and CPPE on various projects.
